Gugulethu locals today honour a deal that was reached between them and Somali traders in the area.
The deal between Gugulethu and Somali Nationals in the area was reached after a meeting that came after the letter that have been going around threatening Somali traders to close their shops in the area.
Coordinator of Anti-Eviction Mncedisi Twalo said today is the day that the deal was reached between Somali shopkeepers and the locals.
The deal stipulates that there must be 100 metres distances between the businesses and there must not be any bussines within the specified distance.
There must be 70% of local owned businesses in the area and 30% of Somali owned businesses; the deal also says there must not be any new bussines up until everything between the locals and Somali Nationals is resolved without any anger or violence.
“Bread and milk prices will be monitored so that there won’t be any price fixing; the process will go to each and every business will reacieve a letter that is going to indicate the deal that they have agreed on will take place this afternoon”.
