Collision Claims Drivers Life

A collision that occurred this morning on the corners of Forest Drive and Silver Tree in Estier River has claimed the life of the driver and leaving the passenger with minor injuries.

The driver who is in his late thirty’s lost control over his bakkie and crashed into a tree before crashing into a fence. He had to be freed by the Fire Department after been entrapped for forty five minutes. The female passenger sustained minor injuries and was transported by Metro to Bay Hospital.

He sustained critical head and chest injuries and needed advanced life support intervention. The patient was intubated and placed on a ventilator on the scene.

While paramedics were trying to stabilise the man further, he started to deteriorate and CPR had to be started. Emergency personnel were able to get a pulse back and rushed him off to hospital but unfortunately he lost the fight due to his injuries and passed away moments later in the trauma unit.

It is still unclear what caused the driver to lose control. Police authorities will investigate the incident further.
