There is a possibility that teachers union South African Democratic Teachers Union (SADTU) could embark on one of the biggest strikes ever.
This comes after Sadtu had a wage negotiation meeting, which disrupted classes. Government has offered a 6.5 percent increase but teachers demanded an 8.6 percent.
It has been stated that government was suppose to have finalised wage negotiations before the World Cup, but that did not happen.
This comes 100 days before the matrics write their National Senior Certificate exams, if the teachers demand are not meet up then it could cause enormous disruption in schools.
Sadtu Ronald Nyati was quoted as saying “the mood on the ground is that teachers are ready to go on a strike. We are going to have one of the biggest strikes ever”.
