8 Year old child in critical condition after nearly drowning at a beach in Simonstown

An 8 year child was swept into the sea and nearly drowned on Sunday evening.

The National Sea Rescue Institute received reports of the incident at Seaport Beach in Simonstown.

 NSRI’s spokesperson Craig Lambinon said when the child was found, he was not breathing.

Rescue workers resuscitated the child on the scene.

Lambinon adds that the child was later airlifted to Red Cross Children’s Hospital where the child remains in a critical condition.
