ACDP welcomes passing of the prevention and torture of persons bill

The African Christian Democratic Party on Wednesday welcomed the passing of the prevention and combating of torture of persons Bill.
ACDP’s Keeno Petersen said they believe that passing this bill is the only the first step towards ending torture.
Petersen added that government must take steps to fully implement its provisions and ensure that there is sufficient monitoring mechanism.
Hsaid that torture is no longer allowed and assistance will be provided to torture victims.
