This is the next phase of efforts by Black Sash to get class certification order to represent bread consumers in the Western Cape in a lawsuit against food companies, who have been price fixing the price of bread.

Black Sash’s Spokesperson Marcus Solomomn said that they are confident hart the Supreme Court of Appeal will overrule the August 2011 decision to refuse us the class certificate we request.

According to Black Sash these companies a namely Pioneer food, Tiger Consumer Brands and Premier Foods has as far back as 2007 have been found guilty of price fixing by the Competition Tribunal.

It is on that basis that they now seek to represent bread consumers in order to get financial compensation for the damages suffered as a result of the bread cartels collusion
