Tourism figures over ten percent higher than last year

Minister of Tourism Marthinus van Schalkwyk on Thursday said he is pleased by the past six months’ tourism figures.

Tourists influx has increased by ten-pint-five percent compared to the same stage last year.

Minister Marthinus van Schalkwyk said visits from African nationals are still the main source of arrivals and was nothing to be sceptical about.

Van Schalkwyk added that Africa may have a lot of poverty as a tourist destiny, but has a bigger middle class than India, and South African Airways expansion plan is packed because people want to travel to South Africa.
