The Western Cape Department of Health on Thursday released its vision for Information and Communications Technology in education.

Spokesperson for the MEC of Education Bronagh Casey said the ICT programme which was introduced in schools in 2001, was initiated to ensure that every learner and educator had access to some form of ICT.

Casey further said the programme is about learning and teaching and it is not there to replaced teachers but to give aid where needed.

She added that the Western Cape Government plans to empower teachers and education managers with the technology.
