The South African Chamber of Commerce and Industry has expressed its concern in the decrease in the Growth Domestic Product in the first quarter of the year.

South Africa’s economy shrank by 0.6 percent quarter-on-quarter in the first three months of this year.

Chambers Senior Policy Consultant Pietman Roos said the severity of the economic impact of the strike questions whether the country’s labour relations framework is serving the needs of workers, business owners and the country’s development goals.

Roos said we believe it’s in large part due to the strike and the whole country is affected by the strike and the impact that its having on the workers its huge.
