The South African Broadcasting Corporation's Chief Operating Officer, Hlaudi Motsoeneng, is contemplating over whether the public broadcaster’s employees should wear uniforms.

He was quoted as saying he is thinking about introducing uniforms to help staff understand unity.

Motsoeneng has been sharply criticised by opposition political parties and pressure groups for a series of controversial editorial decisions that amount to censorship.

Listeners on SABC radio stations have also voiced their annoyance. Motsoeneng has been accused of banning presenters from reading newspaper headlines on-air, canning certain long-running shows, and attempting to censor negative stories.
