One person missing and 37 safe after a boat capsizes in Hout Bay

The National Sea Rescue Institute were activated this afternoon to Hout Bay following reports that a 10 meter charter boat capsized.

NSRI’s Craig Lambinon said 34 people were initially rescued, one of these 34 people a male was confirmed to have died on arrival at the Hout Bay NSRI sea rescue station.

People were rescued by numerous charter boats from the area.

According to Lambinon 4 people all females who were thought to be missing, 3 of them have since been found.

NSRI is now searching for one crewman who is still missing.
