Social Development Minister, Bathabile Dlamini, says government is concerned about an increase in targeted intimidation, violence and hate crimes against lesbians, gay, bisexual and trans-gendered people.

Dlamini has urged communities to adopt a zero tolerance against such crimes and that perpetrators must be reported to law enforcement agencies.

She was speaking in Cape Town at the State of the World Population 2012 Report.

Dlamini added that government alone cannot change discriminatory attitudes and norms on sex and sexuality.
