The Congress of South African Trade Unions has called on Public Protector Thuli Madonsela to investigate former defence minister Lindiwe Sisulu.

This follows claims that Sisulu abused the use of defence force jets.

A report revealed that around R 200-000-00 has spent on return flights for Sisulu from Lanseria airport in Johannesburg to Ysterplaat in Cape Town.

Cosatu Spokesperson Patrick Craven said these amounts are a huge waste of public funds.

Craven also said it is outrageous that a flight between Pretoria and Cape Town can cost that much.

He added that this needs to be investigated and the person responsible for this expenditure should be dealt with.
