The South African Social Services Offices in Cape Town have been frequented with people queuing to receive social grant vouchers in the past week.
Residents from Joe Slovo, Salt River and Bo-Kaap line up at the offices waiting to receive the R1, 200 which covers short term relief for people who suffered loss during fire disasters and other unwarranted hardships.
The Department of Social Services MEC Albert Fritz last week said that there were no food vouchers that were going to be issued by the Department.
On Sunday the residents camped again at the offices, claiming that they had received information that vouchers would be issued.
MEC Spokesperson Melany Kuhn said that today there were no queues outside the offices and MEC Fritz has requested Minister Bathabile Dlamini to issue a communication that there are no food vouchers to be issued.
