The Inkatha Freedom Party’s Women Brigade have called for the Minister of Women, Children and People with Disabilities to urgently arrange an Imbizo, which will bring together women from all opposition parties to hold discussions on rape.

This follows recent incidents of rape and murder in the country including seven women who were raped and mutilated in Northern Kwa-Zulu Natal.

IFP Women Brigade Chairwoman Thembeni kaMdlopha-Mthethwa said that if women do not come together to fight the scourge of rape and ill-treatment of women, no solution will be found.

“We urge women from political parties and all NGO’s to come with us so that we can come with possible solutions, because if we come together with different views on a common enemy; we can come up with something that can help South Africa” kaMdlopha-Mthethwa added.
