Seven people died in a bus accident in Oudtshoorn

Western Cape traffic officials said seven people were killed and 18 others have been hospitalised following a collision involving a bus and a bakkie outside Oudtshoorn this morning.

It's believed the bus driver lost control of the vehicle.

ER24 paramedisc says that when they arrived on scene they found some people trapped in the wreckage.

ER24 Spokesperson Werner Vermaak said paramedics spent hours trying to free the injured from the wreckage and they found a five year old seriously inujured lying next to the body of his mother.

Vermaak said the cause of the accident is not yet known yet but it is allged that a bakkie swerved in front of the bus causing the driver to loose control.
