The Eskom strike which was scheduled for today by National Union of Mineworkers and NUMSA members has been called off.
This comes after Eskom meet with NUMSA and NUM to revise their offer yesterday.
Eskom’s initial offer to the workers was a 8.5 percent increase and a R1 000 housing allowance.
This offer did not go down well with the workers so the offer was rejected.
The workers were threatening to go on a strike today which would mean a disruption to the World Cup games.
Eskom meet with the relevant members from NUM and NUMSA yesterday and revised their offer.
Eskom’s new offer is a 9 percent increase and a R1 500 housing allowance.
This offer has been accepted and The National Union of Mineworkers and NUMSA will take this offer to their members today.
