Fahem Boukadous who is a journalist from Tunisia and works for a satellite channel Al-hiwar Ettounsi, has been sentenced to four years by the Tunisian court today.
He has been prosecuted for reporting on the 2008 protests in Gafsa’s mining basin over unemployment, high living costs and corruption.
The original verdict by the court is he belonged to a criminal association and for releasing information deemed of a nature to threaten the public order.
Boukadous did not make a court appearance because he has been hospitalised since the 3rd of July allegedly suffering from breathing problems and a lung infection.
