Police and Prison Civil Rights Union members are mourning the death of Western Cape police officer Senior Superintendent Mpumelelo Xakekile.

Xakekil was allegedly shot by two men on Wednesday night when he had stopped a taxi to issue the driver a fine.

Popcru Western Cape Secretary Mncedisi Mboniswa says they were shocked to hear about the brutal killing of the traffic officer.

He added that they condemn the killing and are calling on the police to arrest the killers immediately when caught.
