The National Sea Rescue Institute Helicopter Rescue Unit together with the Western Cape Government Health Emergency Medical Services were called to a ship whereby two people had to be evacuated needing medical treatment.
The ship which was carrying oil was
sailing from India to Brazil .
NSRI Spokesperson Craig Lambinon
said the first patient was a male who had suffered paralysis from the waist
down, he was lifted off the ship and transported by EMS
ambulance to hospital in a stable condition.
Lambinon added the second patient
was a male who had fallen aboard a second ship, he was taken off the ship by
NSRI rescue craft and was bought to shore in a stable condition and was
transported to the nearest hospital.
