North West Premier has applauded the police together with the community in the re-arrest of a 33-year-old serial rapist fugitive in Brits.

The man escaped while he was being transported from court to police cells after his appearance.

According to North West Police Spokesperson Thulani Ngubane the suspect was arrested on Friday after he was found hiding in bushes in Zone Six.

Premier Modise’s Spokesperson Lesiba Kgwele said the arrest brings much relief and this shows working together can bring to an end crime and lawlessness.

“Premier Modise said opportunistic crime could be prevented particularly during the festive season through active support from the community and vigilance” Kgwele added.
