There is now a heavy police presence in Delft, which has been plagued by taxi violence.

The police are keeping an eye on the ongoing march that was organised by the Delft Community Policing Forum.

The Delft Community Policing Forum's Reginald Maart said there have been no major incidents on the ongoing march.

Maart said the march was arranged by a community forum because people are sick and tired of the taxi violence.

Bush Radio’s Reporter Loyiso Langeni said the march started this morning and the taxi drivers handed over their memorandum of demands to the Policing Forum.

Langeni further said one of the demands by the taxi drivers is that they want a taxi rank in Delft. The taxis are not operating today and they are expected to start operating again tomorrow.

Meanwhile Golden Bus Passengers were left stranded this morning as a result of the strike.

There were no busses and taxis operating in the area today.

Golden Arrow Bus Services Spokesperson Bronwyn Dyke said due to certain intimidation Golden Bus Services could not operate today within the Delft area. There are busses operating in Simphony Way and Stellenbosch Arterial.
