The Western Cape Education Department has invested over R331 million in textbooks and teachers’ guides for the 2014 school year.

The department has now completed a three-year programme to provide books to support the introduction of the revised curriculum, known as the Curriculum and Assessment Policy Statement.

Ministerial Spokesperson Bronagh Casey said they are delighted that the WCED has completed textbooks rollout to schools for the 2014 school year.

“In the last two months more than two 2.9 million textbooks and reading books for Grade 7 to 9 and Grade 12 have been delivered in this province for 2014,” Casey added.

This is the final stage of the plan that the WCED had committed to in 2010 as a three year rollout.
