An accident along the Natal coast has left three people dead and four others seriously injured.  It is believed that several vehicles collided into each other causing the accident.

Netcare 911 Spokesperson Chris Botha said when paramedics arrived they found the vehicles scattered across the road with people still trapped in them.

Botha said the injuries of the survivors ranged from minor to critical. They were stabilized on the scene and transported to various hospitals for further care.

In another accident one person died and three people were left seriously injured.  This is after a light delivery vehicle lost control and overturned several times.

Netcare 911 Spoksperson Santi Steinmann said the injured people were also treated on the scene before they were transported to hospital for further medical care.

The exact details of the cause of the accident will remain the subject of a police investigation.
