The City of Cape Town’s Gang Force has been busy clamping down on the drugs and illegal firearms which have been fuelling the gang economy.

Mayoral Committee Member for Safety and Security JP Smith said there is a growing trend of unlicensed vehicles that are being used in criminal activities in and around the city.

Smith added they have noted in many cases that scooters are used as delivery vehicles, doing operations in Leonsdale and Manenberg. They have identified and dealt with several such vehicles.

He concluded that many of these scooters are stolen, used as spotters and for the transporting of firearms, and drugs.
