Mayoral Committee Member for Safety and
Security JP Smith said there is a growing trend of unlicensed vehicles that are
being used in criminal activities in and around the city.
Smith added they have noted in many
cases that scooters are used as delivery vehicles, doing operations in Leonsdale
and Manenberg. They have identified and dealt with several such vehicles.
He concluded that many of these scooters are stolen, used as spotters and for the transporting of firearms, and drugs.
