North West Premier Thandi Modise welcomed the arrest of four suspects for public violence and looting in Rustenberg.

The four were allegedly part of about 400 protestors who looted a shopping center and an ATM in Freedom Park.

Police believe that through investigation more arrests can be expected.

Premier Modise Spokesperson Lesiba Moses Kgwele said Premier Modise says that the pride of violent protests and lawlessness have resulted in the loss of looting, destruction of private and public property needs to be stamped out.

“She has said that the denial of bail and stiff sentences for perpetrators of violence will be a deterrent,” Kgwele added.
