Bloemfontein accident claim ten lives

Ten people have been killed in a major accident involving a truck and a small bakkie this morning on the N1 approximately 40 kilometres outside of Bloemfontein.

ER24 Spokesperson Russel Meiring said paramedics and rescue services arrived on the scene where they found debris and people scattered across the highway. It is understood that the bakkie had fourteen occupants in it at the time of the collision.

“Six adults were found with multiple fatal injuries as well as three children and one baby, believed to be approximately five months old.

Three people, including one child survived this horrific incident and were rushed off to a nearby hospital for further medical care. All of them are in a critical condition.”

The exact cause of the collision is not yet known but local authorities were on scene.
