Disaster Teams on high alert as winter storms hit Cape Town

The City of Cape Town said its disaster team is on high alert in anticipation of a cold front expected this weekend. 

The South African Weather Services has issued a warning of heavy rain that could result in flooding, gale force winds as well as snowfall.

Disaster Risk Management Spokesperson Wilfred Solomon Johannes said people can report flooding and service disruptions to the City’s call Centre.

Johannes said we will have potential for roads to be flooded.Disaster teams have already been placed on high alert since Thursday.

“Disasters teams are geared for this winter and kindly ask citizens to be careful when faced with this weather Solomon added.
