South African Deputy President Cyril
Ramaphosa will be representing the country in the commemoration service of the
98th anniversary of the battle of Delville Wood which occurred
during World War 1.
Spokesperson to the Deputy President Ronnie
Mamoepa said this year’s commemoration service is of particular significance.
Mamoepa said as one of the first South
Africans and a member of the African Native Labour Corps to perish during World
War 1 in France will be
re-interment.
"It is our conviction that the commemoration service will go along way to the restoration of the dignity particularly of those black South Africans who participated in the war
Mamoepa added.
