Sactwu’s Winter School begins

The South African Clothing and Textile Workers Union has started its series of Matric Winter Schools.

The programme aims to assist working class matriculant children with extra lessons in some of the more difficult subjects, to help them prepare for the end of year exams. 

Sactwu Project Officer Hazel Jacobs said the Winter Schools have been run nationally every year since its launch in 2000. 

Jacobs said we have a 162 learners who registered yesterday morning. They’ll be taught in the medium of choice either English or Afrikaans and they will be tutored in subjects like mathematics, mathematical literacy, English first additional language, English home language, physics, life sciences and accounting.

“We wish all the matric leaners well for 2014.learners who are attending are dependants of the members of the trade union of the clothing and textile union Jacobs added.
