Alleged 'Pagad G Force leader' arrested for allegedly conspiring to murder investigating officer and magistrate

A 62-year-old alleged leader of the PAGAD G Force gang appeared in court on Wednesday, on a charge of conspiracy to commit murder.

Moegsien Barendse made his brief court appearance in the Wynberg Magistrate’s Court following his arrest earlier in the day.

Hawks spokesperson, Zinzi Hani, says Barendse faces accusations of conspiring to murder the investigating officer and the magistrate presiding over the bail application of his two sons.

‘’This comes after the Hawks’ Crimes Against the State team based in Bellville received a complaint of conspiracy to commit murder on 18 November,’’ said Hani.

‘’The information was then followed up and, through an extensive investigation, the information revealed that Barendse conspired with other members of Pagad G Force to assassinate the two officials."

The matter against Barendse was postponed to 17 January 2023 for a bail application.
