Over 500 babies were born across South Africa between midnight and midday on Christmas Day, and majority of them were delivered in Gauteng. This was confirmed by the national Department of Health.
Amongst the youngest mothers, include two 15-year-old’s who
gave birth in Umlazi, outside Durban and Tonga hospital in Mpumalanga.
Departmental spokesperson, Foster Mohale said some of the
provinces which recorded the first childbirths include these two provinces where
healthy babies were born exactly at 12a.m
The Western Cape’s Health & Wellness Department said it
will only release a statement tomorrow regarding the province’s Christmas
babies
Mohale says the national health department will provide a
full update of all babies born on this day, on a later stage.
