The B97 minibus taxi route situated in Mbekweni between Paarl and Bellville, was officially re-opened on Thursday as the two major taxi bodies, Cape Amalgamated Taxi Association and Cape Organization for the Democratic Taxi Association, reached an agreement.
The announcement made by Transport MEC Daylin Mitchell, comes almost 18 months, after he ordered the closure of the route between Bellville and Paarl due to conflicts between the two taxi associations.
Mitchell highlighted the two bodies signed a memorandum of agreement
regarding operations on the route in line with the arbitrations ruling.
"Both associations have legal rights to trade on this
route and the associations have agreed to co-exist and to jointly provide the
service authorities through operating license," he said.
