This comes as the latest unemployment figures saw Cape Town’s jobless figure drop by 3.2%, with about 26 000 still without work in the metro.

RDM also availed their Human Resource expertise to provide onsite support to job seekers to help them reach their full potential. Job seekers can expect programmes such as job preparedness training, basic computer training, job surfing, CV development and CV dissemination.

The database of job seekers will also be compiled and sent to the Department of Labour.

The Career Centre doors will however open its doors next month

Ward councillor, Peter Helfrich, has been visiting local businesses to speak to them about their corporate social responsibilities and the important role he hopes they can play in uplifting his community.

‘’I met, in August, with the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and the National Human Resources Manager of Rheinmetall Denel Munition (RDM) to thank them for the employment, educational and business opportunities they have created for the residents of our ward since our last meeting in February. We also spoke about creating a centre where residents could receive assistance and access to resources to find employment. I was so happy when they called me three months later to inform me that the Career Community Centre was ready,” said Helfrich.

“RDM wants to support our neighbours in Macassar with a fully-fledged Career Centre. This Career Centre is solely dedicated to empowering job seekers with necessary skills to compete in the job market. The facility boast with internet access, computers and themed programmes.” – said CEO of RDM Jan Patrick Helmsen

Job seekers can expect programmes such as job preparedness training, basic computer training, job surfing, CV development and CV dissemination. The database of job seekers will also be compiled and sent to the Department of Labour.

The Career Centre doors will open between 08:00 - 16:00 from Monday to Friday excluding public holidays starting from 16 January 2023. Those who wish to access these services can visit the Centre on Reeb Road, Macassar.
