Allege kidnapper of Cape’s newborn baby nabbed in Johannesburg

A woman believed to be a kidnapper of a Cape Town one day old baby is behind bars.

She was arrested yesterday afternoon in Johannesburg’s Park Station following a long investigation by the police.

The baby was kidnapped in Mitchells Plain on Friday after her mother gave her to a woman who offered assistance.

The mother went to a shop to buy a cool drink when she return the suspect was no where to be found with the newborn.

Police Captain Rewynne Muller says the suspect will be transported to the city today.

“The process to confirm the identity of the woman and the baby will start as soon as they arrive,” said Muller.

Muller adds the investigation still continues.
