Rumours of xenophobic have turned into reality around the Western Cape Province.

The Western Cape provincial government has received reports of incidences of random violence against foreign nationals in Cape Town and surrounding areas.

Spokesperson Hildegarde Fast says foreign owned shops in Khayelitsha, Langa, Nyanga, Bishop Lavis, Philippi and Wellington have been looted.

Some injuries have been reported and more police have been deployed. Refugee agency Passop says some residents of Wellington gathered at the police station last night.
