Gauteng’s Ekurhuleni Municipality says it will move with speed to ensure that the situation in Wattville normalises after this morning’s violent protests.

Mayoral spokesman Zweli Dlamini says the mayor’s office has taken note of the protestors’ grievances and will look into them.

However he slammed the marchers for looting and vandalising public and municipal property.

Dlamini says the municipality was given an undertaking that the protest would be peaceful.
