Fernando Johnson, the accused in the attempted murder case of the little girl who was shot and injured in the shooting in Hanover park in September this year, took to the stand in his opposed bail application on Thursday.
Leeana Van Wyk, who was playing outside her home, was injured during a shootout allegedly between two rival gangs in the area.
Van Wyk is currently recovering at the Red Cross Children’s hospital.
Hospital Spokesperson Lauren O’Conner May said the little girl is undergoing physiotherapy sessions on a daily basis.
She added that doctors are planning to take her to a rehabilitation ward soon.
The six year old girl, at one stage was declared brain dead.
