Police Minister Nathi Mthethwa today launched the festive season safety campaign.
The campaign was launched in Limpopo, where the Minister told civil society groups that they need to help the police to ensure that police stations do not become political playgrounds.
Mthethwa urged the communities to critic the police when they do wrong and also complement them when they excel.
Minitry`s Spokesperson Zweli Mnisi said their approach and operations are focussed around aggravated robberies, house and business robberies, cash in-transit, as well as ATM bombings.
Mnisi also said this campaign will tackle social crime-prevention operations dealing with contact crimes.
Alcohol and drug abuse during the festive season, along the years has been identified as one of the main causes of road deaths in the country.
Mnisi added that they will continue with the Anti-Piracy and Counterfeit goods campaign that was launched in 2011.
