Municipal workers are expected to down tools early next week.

South African Municipal Workers Union spokesperson Tahir Sema said the leadership held several meetings with its 200 000 members countrywide.

The union is demanding that the South African Local Government Association uphold a wage curve agreement signed three years ago.

Sema added that they are still sorting out the logistics of the strike.
