Parents and school children have taken to the streets in Bonteheuwel today in disapproval of the closures of 20 schools.

Western Cape Education MEC Donald Grant cited crumbling infrastructure, dwindling pupil numbers as some of the reasons for closures.

MEC Grant made the announcement to close 20 of the 27 schools on Tuesday.

The Western Cape ANC has vowed to take court action against the provincial education department over the closure of twenty schools at the end of this year.

Magnus de Jongh from the Save our Schools Campaign says they will intensify their actions to keep schools open.
