Three men arrested for elephants` tusk smuggling

Three men were arrested on Monday by the Sea Point police for smuggling elephants` tusks.

The police were patrolling when they spotted a suspicious looking vehicle.

Police Spokesperson FC Van Wyk said upon searching the men police discovered the tusks.

Van Wyk said that the tusks weigh approximately 90 kg’s and the estimated street value still need to be determined.

Van Wyk adds that three Cameroonian nationals aged between 27 and 49 years old and they have been arrested and the suspects are currently in police custody and they are due to appear in the Cape Town Magistrate on charges of the possession of ivory without documentation.
