Two babies died in separate incidents in the Western Cape

The Western Cape Police are investigating two separate incidents, of babies found dead.

Both incidents occurred in the Western Cape on Wednesday.

On the first incident, a two year-old boy drowned at a day care centre in Welgelegen.

Netcare Limited Spokesperson Chris Botha said the boy was declared dead on the scene and the cause of death is unknown at this stage.

In another incident, a newly born baby was found dumped in a rubbish bin along Voortrekker Road in Goodwood.

Botha said details as to who dumped the baby are not known.

Botha said the paramedics were alerted by a passer-by that noticed the baby. And the baby was also declared dead on the scene.
