The Rural Legal Centre has called for the banning of farm evictions.  This is after a farmworker pensioner and his family were on Tuesday evicted from Langdam Farm.

The Centre’s Shirley Davids said it is sad that when farmworkers retire they are left with nothing and are often thrown out of their homes with nowhere to go and no money.

“The farmer did apply for a court order they only got a plea two times in court.

Nobody contacted them or give them any information about the proceedings of the court case until they receive by the legal evictions court order that was made by Montagu.”  Davids added.
