Concerns raised over government spending

Concerns have been raised over government spending of more than four-billion-Rand on catering, entertainment and travel allowances last year.

The figures emerged from government departments' financial results tabled in Parliament over the past few weeks.

The three departments responsible for the most spending were the department of defence, the police and the justice department.

The DA’s Dion George says wasting money in this manner is negligent when the South African poor are battling to put food on the table.
