Six arrested for drunk driving in the WC

The Western Cape traffic officials conducted 12 roadblocks across the province last night.

According to WC Traffic Chief Kenny Africa 1 385 cars were stopped and checked, 186 drivers were tested for alcohol and 6 drunken drivers were arrested at the different roadblocks.

The highest reading was recorded in Mossel Bay at 8,9mg.

Africa added that three people were also arrested in the region of Somerset West for being in possession of drugs.  Another two people were arrested for being in possession of illegal firearms in Knysna. 

Traffic officials also confiscated 700 mandrax tablets in Kraaifontein.

R119 000 total fines were issued during the roadblocks.
