26 drivers arrested for drunk driving during traffic operations

Western Cape Traffic Authorities this past weekend conducted 24 roadblocks where 2 499 vehicles were stopped and checked. 

615 drivers were tested for alcohol and 26 drivers were arrested for drunk driving.

Provincial Traffic Chief Kenny Africa said the highest breathe alcohol region was recorded in the Mossel Bay region. We also tested the speed of 1 321 vehicles and we prosecuted 332 drivers for exceeding the speed limit. 

Also during these roadblocks two drivers were arrested for negligent and reckless driving in Somerset West and Worcester.

Africa said three people died on the provincial roads during the weekend.
