Western Cape MEC of Finance, Economic Development and Tourism Alan Winde said Delft residents will benefit greatly due to broadband access.

Winde said the residents are using technology to start and expand their own businesses, delivering a valuable contribution to the local economy.

He also said it is great to see what happens in poor areas when you give access to free Wi-Fi. The one in Delft which I visited last week and we launched a couple of week’s earlier.

“It’s really amazing to see how Wi-Fi is going to help create the right environment for business to grow for school kids to get access to information, to do their research. It’s going to make a massive difference on our grades, our pass rate. We will be monitoring this pilot project over the next year in poor areas and how did it changed people lives and I’m very optimistic I think its a great program and we are watching it month by month,” Winde added
