Western Cape MEC of Education Debbie Schafer today visited the National Senior Certificate examination vault to assess security arrangements ahead of the exams.

MEC Schafer in a statement said that while the WCED cannot always predict some extreme circumstances but it is ready.

Security measures of the vault include amongst others that staff have been screened and is monitored closely by security cameras and that each paper printed is sealed and cannot be tampered with.

Ministerial Spokesperson Jessica Shelver said the vault is under strict surveillance to ensure that there are no leakages of the papers.

Shelver said it is the intention of the WCED to ensure that the examination process is equal and fair so therefore strict security agreements are necessary to ensure the integrity of the examinations.

“We look forward to a peaceful and fair examination process and we are confident that we will ensure that every candidate in the province receives his or her paper on time” Shelver added.
