Lusanda Bill
24 October 2014

The National Education Health and Allied Workers Union has welcomed the continued commitment to post-schooling and training, which together with employment, labour affairs and social security funds secure the fastest growth in spending by function.

Numsa was responding to Finance Minister Nhlanhla Nene medium-term budget speech.

However the union has expressed its concern regarding the public wage bill.

Numsa Spokesperson Sizwe Pamla said they are concerned about the compensation of employees is forecasted at 6.6% considering that our members have demanded 16% salary adjustment for this year.

Pamla said that statement that the treasury is freezing some of the vacancies. We think that this is ill advised because we have not recovered from the mass retrenchments of the year.
